A Few Good Things for Cardiovascular Health
With this month being American Heart Month, heart disease is in the spotlight so I’m featuring a Millie’s Musings that focusses on cardiovascular health.
Millie’s note was simple with reference to a food, a vitamin and a mineral that are good for cardiovascular health.
(The Food)
- Cantaloupe: Can help B.P. & cholesterol
(The Vitamin)
- Vitamin C helps keep arteries clear & blood moving by preventing cholesterol from oxidizing and gumming up the artery walls
(The Mineral)
- Potassium, a mineral that helps B.P.
- Body uses Potassium to help eliminate excess sodium.
- Potassium may also thwart hardening of the arteries & the formation of blood clots that can trigger heart attack & strokes.
I think it’s generally known that bananas are a good source of potassium.
Here are some other good sources of potassium:
- Avocados
- Raisins
- Tomatoes
- Prunes
So there you have it, a few simple things to be sure are in your diet to help your cardiovascular health!
