Find a Food Bank

Now’s the time of year a lot of food banks have food drives and fundraisers.

Currently, Forgotten Harvest, one of the largest food banks in the metropolitan Detroit area, is offering free Tiger’s tickets in exchange for a $150 donation as part of its Good Neighbor Holiday campaign.

Coming up in January, collections for Gleaner’s Community Food Bank, another major food bank in the Detroit area, will take place every Saturday and Sunday at Kroger stores.

Here’s a short list of area food banks to contact if you are in need of food assistance or want to donate or volunteer.

Another source to find food banks in a certain geographic area is the online directory FoodPantries.org. Also, a lot of local churches have their own food pantries, provide holiday food baskets, or can suggest food pantries in the area.
