Find calm & save immunity … 2 Cs to chill

Relax…don’t stress. I have a “recipe” to find calm and save immunity.

Remember C is for Calm… and the 2 Cs for relaxation are chamomile and Vitamin C .

As we are now into September and the official start of fall and harvest season is just a couple weeks away, two things come to my mind…warm beverages and immunity boosting. It’s nice when one serves up the other…keep reading for it.😊

I think, typically, at this time of year people are more aware about boosting their immune systems to protect against cold and flu. Now, since we are currently living in a pandemic, boosting one’s immune system may be, or SHOULD be, at the top of everyone’s mind on the daily.  !

This brings us to this month’s Millie’s Musings, which tells us how to brew relaxation in a cup of tea and how that and Vitamin C can both help strengthen our immune system.

Millie’s note says “Brew a soothing cup of chamomile tea by steeping 2 or 3 tsp. of dried blossoms in a cup of water. Then sit back and sip your anxieties away.”

The idea, here it is!, is along with those anxieties goes the stress that may weaken your immune system. I really enjoy a warm cup of chamomile tea on a chilly evening. Knowing it also adds benefit for my health, I’ll enjoy it even more!

So, those who will be harvesting their own homegrown chamomile from their herb garden this year can use it to make a cup of relaxation and calm. Perfect before bed as a nice start to a good night’s sleep.

I also like certain cups for certain types of warm beverages and suggest picking the perfect cup for yourself when having your tea. My favorite is a pretty solid small white fluted fleur de lis mug. I can use it in a pretty much carefree fashion while it also has a bit of sophistication to it. The delicate vintage tea cup and saucer pictured is a different story! It is a family heirloom from my husband’s maternal grandmother. Any time I use it I naturally slow down to be EXTRA careful. That adds to the serenity and helps set the mood.

OK, back to the note … “your brain needs Vitamin C to produce serotonin, a chemical that helps you sleep and makes you feel good. Without enough, you may feel tired and sluggish. When under a lot of stress, this vitamin will also block the release of stress hormones that weaken your immune system. Remember C is for ‘Calm.’ Energize yourself with this wonderful vitamin by eating citrus fruits, strawberries, red or green peppers, broccoli, cantaloupe. For more protection, take vitamin C supplements.”

So, the recipe to find calm and save immunity is to fight stress. Chamomile tea and Vitamin C can help do this and be positive for our immune system.

Remember, C is for Calm. Chamomile and Vitamin C equals RELAXATION.

Don’t stress… sip, relax, enjoy. Here’s to your health, and mine!
