Health benefits of eating fish twice a week
There are many health benefits of eating fish.
How often do you eat fish? If it’s not twice a week, it may not be enough!
Not usually do I eat fish twice a week and sometimes (more than not) not even once a week, but perhaps we should all strive to eat more fish if it’s something we don’t regularly already do…BECAUSE…according to one of Millie’s notes, eating fish two times a week may help arthritis, depression, and Alzheimer’s disease. WOW! Bring on the FISH I say!
“Experts” (only cited that way in the note) believe a fish-filled diet could keep your mind sharp as you age. Who doesn’t want that?
And, if you are over 50, you need 8 mg of iron a day… Iron carries life giving oxygen with your blood to your muscles and other parts of your body. FISH supply iron in a form easily absorbed by your body. (Meat and poultry do, too).
Also, FISH, being a protein, serves as a good source of B6, which is essential for a lot of reasons and women over 50 need 1.5 mg of B6.
If you’ve never tried it, it may seem intimidating, but actually I find fish to be one of the easiest meals to prepare for dinner. And, there are some types that are a bit more MEATY. if you will, and not so FISHY, such as the swordfish we had for dinner this evening. Quite simple actually… just brushed with olive oil, sprinkled with fresh lemon juice, salt and pepper and grilled on both sides for about 6 minutes each and served with a mango salsa as an option. So, not only are there the health benefits of eating fish Millie pointed out, but also fish can be easily prepared and pleasing to the palate!
