PIZZA,PIZZA, PIZZA… YES, that’s PIZZA 3X

PIZZA,PIZZA, PIZZA… YES, that’s PIZZA 3X

As far as I’m concerned, EVERY DAY could be PIZZA DAY, but right now it’s National Pizza Week…SO, in the spirit of that I will share with you 3 pizzas Diner Dennis and I recently enjoyed. They were all VERY good, unique from each other, and I recommend them all!

To start, crunched for time before seeing a show at Pontiac’s Little Art Theatre, we went to Fillmore 13 and had the Mediterranean.

As you can see, this pie was loaded with toppings…kalamata olives, artichokes hearts, dried tomatoes, two cheeses – feta and mozza,  plus a garlic, olive oil, pesto sauce. OMG! I don’t think I need to say anything more. It was definitely filling and not from a bunch of dough (I’m not knocking pizza dough…trust me on that, I’m just saying the toppings were substantial and filling in and of themselves). Molto delicioso!!

I also must plug the Sweet Beet Salad here because it really was SA – WEEEET!  So good. A mix of arugula, goat cheese, beets, crisp green apple (which really brings this home) and candied pecans with a balsamic glaze drizzled over it all.  The blend of the crisp green apple with the candied pecans,  2 opposing flavors, together are a perfect match!

And the space here exudes historic character with interior brick walls, wood floors with sounds that emanate the open space and art.

A few days later we found ourselves heading to Fenton…AGAIN.  We’ve been unpleasantly summoned out that way a few times recently regarding a car repair issue and so to alleviate some of that pain have added in some restaurant stops. Which have enjoyably included multiple stops at the Fenton Fire House and North Peak Brewing Company, so we wanted to try something different…and Voila!  We found the Fenton Winery and Brewery, and we found gold…LOVE THIS PLACE! There is a lot going on here…a banquet center with a large outdoor fire pit and patio, a restaurant with adjacent outdoor seating, a cute little gift shop mixed in the bar/dining/brewing area. For such a large space, it’s quite cozy.

And let me tell you the beer and wine selection was enticing… read about it and had to go to try the Staggering Bull and Swingin’ Berries… they did not disappoint, but we’ll get to them another time… we’re talking pizza today, aren’t we? !

Tried THE BARBQ   THEBARBQ and on the recommendation of our server also The Golden Ticket (see, I told you we found gold!) This was amazing. A blend of prosciutto, mozzarella, golden fig (see it inside?),parmigiano and balsamic… a stunning slice of pie this one is!

On Saturday, day became night with a flash and we found ourselves wiped out, hungry and nothing to cook, or energy to, so we landed at Hamlin Pub… craving pizza, of course! And so we had the SUPER and it was just like the name says… SUPER… LOTS of toppings on this one, too!
